Few words about Arras : a unique congres destination
Arras has, for 2000 years, always taken a central place in the North of France from the celtic times. Then it became a Roman garrison town. In the 15th century, the region was involved in an episode of the hundred year war : the peace of Arras was signed in 1435. You can see a picture of the Arras citadel designed by Vauban. Arras is also known for the tapestries. Then, about the French revolution, the famous Robespierre was born in Arras. Arras and the Artois became an important strategical place during WW1.
Two magnificent historic squares which dominate the heart of Arras. The City Hall and Belfry are on the list of Inheritance of Unesco.
